Recollections of service in Iran in the 1950s and of first meeting with the Shah; on the re-establishment of relations between Iran and Britain after the events of 1953; on the policies of Prime Minister Mosaddeq, Britain's views on his government, and the events which led to his fall from power; on the Shah's decision to sign a non-aggression pact with the Soviet Union; on CENTO; recollections of Seyyed Ziyaoddin Tabataba'i; impressions of the Iranian political scene as ambassador to Iran, 1963-71; on various Iranian political leaders; on the negotiations between Iran and Great Britain over Bahrain; changes in the Iranian leaders' dealings with foreign powers; recollections of the events of 1963-64; on Anglo-Iranian relations between 1963 and 1971; on the roots of the Revolution of 1978-79; Soviet policy towards Iran; on the Shah's suspicion of British intentions and his sensitivity to British policies.
